In response to the urgent need for reliable statistics to support evidence-based policymaking, ESCWA and the Libyan Bureau of Statistics and Census organized a virtual consultative meeting on 8 December titled “Using Administrative Data Sources for the Production of Official Statistics in Libya”.
The meeting highlighted the importance of using administrative data in producing official statistics and identified key challenges and practical solutions for integrating administrative records into the statistical system. Participants from the Bureau and relevant ministries were briefed on the best ways to overcome those challenges, while representatives of Arab national statistical offices shared their countries’ successful experiences and lessons learned.
The meeting also laid the groundwork for establishing a national committee for administrative records in Libya and defining its future priorities.
