In Mauritania, ESCWA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors (MAEPSP) and the Directorate of Forecasting and Economic Analysis (DPAE), organized a workshop on Economic Modelling from 27 to 30 June.
Officials at the Ministry of Economics and the various departments concerned were trained to master the tool used in economic simulations, and learned to build and implement an equilibrium model to measure the effects of economic policies.
The workshop was undertaken as part of a project to build member States’ capacities in devising their own Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) models for better economic planning and policymaking.
