In Amman, ESCWA held a workshop for senior officials from the Palestinian Ministry of Industry on the new Pan Euro-Mediterranean rules of origin (PEM-ROOs).
The workshop, held from 17 to 19 September, presented the new updates in the PEM-ROOs and their application procedures, with the aim to empower the ministry’s personnel to leverage opportunities for establishing regional industrial production bases while also protecting local products from imports that do not comply with the new rules set by the agreement.
Participants also learned about the mechanisms of accumulation of origin, and how this could reduce restrictions on Palestinian exports to European and Arab countries members of this regional partnership.
