Civil society

The 2030 Agenda emphasizes the role of civil society as a key stakeholder in its implementation, follow-up and review.

ESCWA has long been a supporter of civil society organizations. Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda, ESCWA has supported the involvement of civil society in follow-up and review at the regional level in the form of preparatory meetings to the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development. Civil society organizations are also well-represented and well-voiced at the Arab Forum.

At the country level, ESCWA also provides technical support to national consultations with civil society on the 2030 Agenda and the VNR process.
