Since 2019, ESCWA, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), and the League of Arab States have been organizing a series of regional workshops focused on Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs). The workshops provide a platform for dialogue and peer learning to enhance VNR processes in Arab States. During the first regional VNR workshop, a Community of Practice (CoP) on VNRs in the Arab region was established and serves as an informal platform to engage members in continuous and focused knowledge sharing and experience exchange on various VNR topics.
The 6th Workshop on Voluntary National Reviews in the Arab Region provides a platform for dialogue and peer learning among Arab countries on VNR-related issues. This edition provides participants with in-depth hands-on knowledge on mainstreaming gender in VNRs. As the second workshop in the 2022 VNR cycle, it offers an opportunity to Arab countries presenting their VNR at the 2022 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in July to report on their preparations, the challenges facing them and the way forward.
