The climate finance for the water sector in the Mashreq region workshop is the fourth event within the framework of the Mashreq Waters Knowledge Series initiative, organized by ESCWA with the support of the World Bank. This series fosters discussion on opportunities and challenges for utilizing disruptive technologies and innovative tools for improved water resource management in the Mashreq region.
The aim of the workshop is to identify challenges and opportunities for accessing various climate related finance and economic tools for improved water resource management, including innovative, blended and private financing, with focus on the benefits of regional collaboration. Efforts towards building a regional pathway to address climate change are also being discussed.
The workshop gathers senior officials and technical experts from government institutions responsible for water resource management from Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Jordan, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic and Türkiye. Experts from the World Bank, United Nations organizations and international organizations are supporting the meeting, as well.
