ESCWA, the League of Arab States and UN Women are holding an online regional consultation on older women in the Arab region. Representatives of national women’s machineries and ESCWA focal points on ageing discuss older women’s rights, needs and contributions, including their roles as recipients and providers of care. They seek to identify priorities for integrating gender equality, ageing and care into national policies, strengthening coordination and advancing older women’s participation in decision-making.
The consultation informs the fifth regional review of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing and supports the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the Sustainable Development Goals.
