ESCWA is organizing the seventh meeting of the technical advisory group on demographic and social statistics in Arab countries.
The meeting aims to:
- Review the ESCWA programme plan in relation to supporting the promotion and modernization of demographic and social statistics in Arab countries, and discuss the role of ESCWA in providing the necessary technical support in relevant areas.
- Assess the availability of data on demographic and social indicators, and propose methodologies for addressing data gaps and improving data quality.
- Discuss emerging methodological issues and global developments, as well as ongoing statistical capacity development initiatives.
- Introduce participants to the Arab Development Portal, including its dashboards, country profiles, open data catalogue, and advanced analytical features.
- Provide hands-on training on how to utilize the various functions of the Portal.
