ESCWA, in partnership with the Renewable Energy Authority of Libya, is convening a "National Dialogue on Transforming Libya's Extractive Energy Sector towards Sustainable Energy Systems". The dialogue brings together national stakeholders to discuss pathways for modernizing the energy sector in Libya and accelerating the transition towards sustainable, resilient, and inclusive energy systems.
The discussions focus on implementing the National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Strategy 2023–2035 and on how renewable energy, sustainable hydrogen, energy efficiency, electricity interconnectivity, digitalization and critical energy transition minerals can accelerate progress. They seek to identify priority policy, regulatory, technical and investment actions to advance the country’s energy transition, strengthen long-term energy security and support sustainable development.
The dialogue serves as a dynamic platform for sharing regional experiences, engaging stakeholders, and developing practical recommendations to advance the sustainable energy future in Libya.
