Like many Arab countries, Jordan is experiencing a rapid demographic shift marked by an ageing population. This transition presents significant challenges that require the development of relevant legislative and policy frameworks.
On 22 and 23 June, ESCWA, in collaboration with the National Council for Family Affairs and the “Shamil” Project for Social Protection in Jordan, organized a national workshop to review the draft action plan of the National Strategy for Older Persons (2025–2030).
Participants included members of the National Committee for Older Persons in Jordan, representatives of relevant ministries and government agencies, as well as representatives of international, regional, and local non-governmental organizations. The workshop aimed to review the proposed action plan, incorporate participants' feedback to finalize the document, and submit it to the Prime Ministry for endorsement and dissemination.
