With the aim of fostering more inclusive and equitable public institutions, ESCWA and the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized in Kuwait a national workshop on 1 and 2 October on mainstreaming disability perspectives in government institutions.
The workshop brought together representatives from relevant ministries and members of the committee in charge of drafting the national report on the implementation of the CRDP. Participants were introduced to the “Tool for Mainstreaming Disability Issues in Governmental Institutional Work”, which ESCWA adapted based on the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy, to support Arab Governments in integrating disability considerations across their structures and operations.
The workshop also aimed at strengthening the capacities of the committee in reporting and following up on human rights related to disability.
