As part of the Arab European Cities Dialogue Forum held in Riyadh from 11 to 13 May, ESCWA and the Arab Urban Development Institute (AUDI) co-organized a session titled "Building Resilient and Inclusive Smart Cities: Advancing Digital Transformation for Sustainability, Innovation, and Quality of Life".
The session explored the transition towards smart and sustainable cities, emphasizing that smart city development is not only about adopting new technologies but also about strategically integrating digital innovation into broader urban development plans.
ESCWA also participated during the Forum in a session organized by UN-Habitat titled "From Data to Impact: How Voluntary Local Reviews and SDG Localization Drive Development in Cities", by providing an overview of the role of the first edition of the Arab Mayors Academy in providing tools and knowledge materials to the frontline leaders and shedding light on its second edition.
