The second edition of the Arab Mayors Academy concluded with a training event held on 13 December in Doha. Organized by ESCWA, UN-Habitat, and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, the training focused on practical tools for developing integrated urban strategies, designing theories of change, establishing monitoring and evaluation systems, and applying smart governance and sustainable smart-city approaches.
Participants also explored the role of technology, data, community engagement, and cross-sector collaboration in improving municipal planning, service delivery, and achieving long-term impact. The event was followed by a graduation ceremony.
The second edition of the Academy was launched in August this year by ESCWA and UN-Habitat, aiming to equip city leaders with modern knowledge and tools to address the challenges and opportunities facing the region in urban development and sustainable development.
