Macro-fiscal modelling and forecasting are increasingly important for Governments to assess the impact of global economic shocks, develop alternative scenarios and inform evidence-based policy responses. From 7 to 10 September, ESCWA, in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), conducted a capacity-building workshop on macro-fiscal modelling and forecasting to support the Ministry of Finance in Lebanon.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacities of technical staff and policymakers to develop macroeconomic policy simulations that inform decisions on medium-term fiscal frameworks, fiscal impacts of revenue and expenditure adjustments, and budgetary decisions aligned with macroeconomic objectives.
The training provided participants with access to the Macro-Fiscal Modelling and Forecasting tool and its applications for policy simulations.
