To ensure effective participation and positive outcomes in global efforts to combat climate change, ESCWA organized the nineteenth regional workshop on capacity development for climate change negotiations.
Held in Kuwait from 12 to 13 May, the workshop brought together young negotiators who recently joined the Arab States negotiation teams at the Conference of the Parties (COP), to address key topics, including the evolution of climate change negotiations, negotiation techniques and strategies, roles and procedures of negotiations under the UNFCCC, negotiation groups and influence, with a focus on the Arab Group's historical position.
The workshop was organized in cooperation with the League of Arab States (LAS), UNEP Regional Office for West Asia (UNEP/ROWA), the Arab fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) and was hosted by the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC).
