To support Governments in promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities in the labour market, ESCWA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in Iraq and the Commission on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Special Needs, organized a workshop to review and validate the findings of a rapid assessment made on the economic empowerment of persons with disabilities in Iraq.
The workshop, held on 18 September, brought together senior officials from the ministry, representatives of government entities, civil society actors, and organizations related to persons with disabilities. Participants worked jointly to design a national action plan on persons with disabilities.
They also identified the plan’s key components, agreed on priority interventions, and adopted a joint roadmap to advance inclusive economic empowerment and expand employment opportunities across Iraq.
