To discuss the contribution of the energy sector to socioeconomic development in the Arab region and to maximize its role in this field, the ESCWA Committee on Energy held its fifteenth session from 16 to 18 September at the UN House in Beirut.
The Committee discussed the role of human capital in enabling just energy transitions, as well as the adoption and integration of electric vehicles into the transport sector in the Arab region. It also reviewed progress in implementing the UN Decade of Sustainable Energy for All and examined regional priorities for the period stretching between 2026 and 2030.
As part of its proceedings, the Committee held a joint meeting with the ESCWA Committee on Water Resources on “Means of Implementation for Advancing Climate Resilience in the Arab Region”.
