As part of its efforts to promote inclusive digital economies, ESCWA is implementing two capacity-building initiatives in Tunisia and Lebanon to strengthen e-commerce ecosystems and enhance the ability of women entrepreneurs, MSMEs, and public institutions to benefit from digital opportunities.
In Tunisia, ESCWA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Family, Women, Children and Seniors and the Organisation Nationale des Entrepreneurs (ONE), delivered a programme for 100 women entrepreneurs, equipping them with practical skills to use e-commerce, reach new markets, and leverage emerging technologies, including AI, to grow their businesses.
In Lebanon, under the project “Mitigating the Impact of Conflict Escalation in Lebanon”, ESCWA, in partnership with UNDP, conducted a capacity-building programme for General Directorate of Cooperatives staff to support the management and operationalization of its e-commerce marketplace and strengthen its long-term sustainability.
