To support the Arab region in expanding its role within the clean energy supply chain, ESCWA organized a meeting of experts on extractive industries. Held on 21 May, the hybrid event provided a regional platform for exchanging knowledge and best practices, with a focus on aligning sustainable energy strategies with critical energy transition minerals.
Participants benefited from reverse knowledge-sharing, informed by diverse national perspectives, case studies, and opportunities presented by Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Somalia, and Oman.
The meeting emphasized the need to strengthen regional cooperation on critical mineral supply chains, increase investment to modernize the sector, adopt international standards and advanced technologies, enhance value addition and industrial capabilities, and support the transition to sustainable energy systems across the Arab region.
