On the sidelines of the third Global Disability Summit (GDS) held on 2 and 3 April in Berlin, ESCWA organized a meeting titled “Inclusive Employment in the Arab Region: Challenges and Policy Recommendations”.
Government officials, policymakers, academics, representatives of non-governmental and international organizations, explored the barriers limiting employment opportunities for persons with disabilities in the region and proposed policy recommendations to promote inclusive and equitable employment.
The event was organized in partnership with the Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labor and Council of Ministers of Social Affairs in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, the International Disability Alliance, the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Jordan, the International Labour Organization Regional Office for Arab States (ILO), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
