Integrating disability into public policies and institutional processes is essential to promoting equality and ensuring the full participation of persons with disabilities. The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) requires States Parties to remove barriers, ensure equal opportunities, and regularly report on progress in its implementation.
In Kuwait, ESCWA, in cooperation with the National Committee for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait, organized on 15 and 16 July a workshop on the CRPD and the development of an institutional action plan to mainstream disability inclusion in Kuwait.
The workshop brought together representatives of the national committee and various government entities. It aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to implement the Convention, prepare national reports, and develop an institutional action plan using the ESCWA tool for Mainstreaming Disability Inclusion in Government Institutions.
