Given the importance of integrating the principles of social justice into parliamentary work as a fundamental step towards promoting sustainable development and achieving social and economic stability, ESCWA, in collaboration with the Social Justice Committee of the Somali Parliament, organized a national workshop on integrating social justice into legislation in Somalia.
The workshop, held in Mogadishu on 3 and 4 June, focused on enhancing participants’ knowledge and understanding of social justice principles, building the capacity of parliamentarians to integrate these principles into legislation, and reviewing and endorsing the technical framework of the national social justice strategy.
Participants also developed a parliamentary action plan to promote social justice. Additionally, they discussed a draft parliamentary declaration reflecting their commitment to advancing social justice and building the Federal Republic of Somalia.
