ESCWA is organizing a workshop, in collaboration with the Social Justice Committee of the Somali Parliament, aimed at institutionalizing social justice within parliamentary work.
The workshop is also focused on reviewing and approving the draft technical framework of the National Social Justice Strategy with the members of the parliamentary task force. It particularly aims to:
- Enhance knowledge and understanding of social justice principles.
- Build the capacity of parliamentarians to integrate social justice into legislation.
- Review and endorse the technical framework of the National Social Justice Strategy.
- Develop a parliamentary action plan to promote social justice and adopt the proposed strategy.
- Discuss and draft a proposed parliamentary declaration reflecting the commitment to promoting social justice and building the Federal Republic of Somalia.
The workshop brings together members of the Social Justice Committee, along with a group of parliamentarians from the House of the People and the Senate who specialize in legislation and public policy.
