On 17 and 19 June, ESCWA, in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), conducted a national advanced training workshop on macro-fiscal modelling and forecasting for Tunisia.
The training aimed to improve the capacity of policymakers in Tunisia by enhancing their readiness to use macroeconomic forecasts and simulations, to support more informed decision-making regarding the financing of social expenditures and the achievement of the SDGs. It also provided participants with access to the macro-fiscal modelling and forecasting tool, including a user-friendly interface.
The training focused on understanding macro-fiscal modelling using the example of the extended single-country World Economic Forecasting Model and its applications for policymaking.
