Countries in conflict face a complex set of challenges that hinder their ability to effectively review and follow up on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, including conducting meaningful voluntary national reviews (VNRs). To support peer learning on VNRs and advance progress towards the SDGs in conflict-affected contexts, ESCWA released a document titled “Meaningful voluntary national reviews of countries in conflict”.
The document offers member States in conflict insight into relevant VNR experiences, highlighting approaches that countries have applied and lessons they have learned.
Without being prescriptive, the document provides a collection of bite-sized information and illustrative country cases to inspire national SDG teams in countries in conflict to tweak their approach for a more meaningful VNR.
