In support of Yemen’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ESCWA, the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security (UNTFHS), the United Nations System Staff College (UNSSC), and the League of Arab States (LAS), in close cooperation with the Yemen’s Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC), organized a workshop in Amman from 19 to 22 January to operationalize the triple nexus approach linking humanitarian, development, and peace efforts within a risk-informed human security framework.
The workshop brought together Yemeni civil servants from various ministries and institutions to map the country’s multidimensional risks, needs, capacities, and vulnerabilities through evidence-based consultations. Discussions considered the influence of regional and international actors on national initiatives, especially given external challenges or crises.
A key outcome of the workshop is the development of governance and coordination mechanisms that apply the nexus approach to the national processes of Yemen, supporting integrated programming aligned with the country’s development and resilience objectives.
