Within the framework of the Arab Climate Change Capacity Building Project, funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), ESCWA and the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Somalia organized a capacity-building workshop on the sustainable energy transition across sectors in Arab least developed countries (LDCs).
The workshop, held in Cairo on 28 and 29 April, aimed to strengthen the capacities of policymakers and government officials from the six Arab LDCs, Comoros, Djibouti, Mauritania, Somalia, the Sudan, and Yemen, which receive only 5% of climate finance flows to the region.
Participants were equipped with technical, socioeconomic, and financial tools to help advance climate ambitions and accelerate the energy transition. They had dynamic discussions over shared challenges and common opportunities for sustainable growth in Arab LDCs.
