Good practices guide for agriculture, post-harvest processing, manufacturing, packaging, and labelling within the framework of training on the sustainable use of energy

August 2021

The “Good Practices Guide for Agriculture, Post-harvest Processing, Manufacturing, Packaging, and Labelling within the Framework of Training on the Sustainable Use of Energy” was developed within the framework of the Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND) that is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

The guide focuses on food safety, quality, good manufacturing practices, refrigeration/storage, labelling, packaging, marketing, and good agricultural practices that promote energy sustainability, the use of renewable energy and the reduction of waste. The guide also deals with supportive initiatives that stimulate private sector investments, develop entrepreneurial projects, and empower women with a focus on job creation, developing robust agro-food value chains using the water-energy-food nexus approach, and dealing with climate change to encourage a sustainable economy.
