RICCAR country fact sheets
September 2026
The Regional Initiative for the Assessment of Climate Change Impacts on Water Resources and Socio Economic Vulnerability in the Arab Region (RICCAR) provides the first coordinated, region wide framework for understanding how climate change is reshaping the Arab countries. Within this framework, country fact sheets were developed, drawing on high resolution regional climate model ensembles. These fact sheets document clear historical warming, rising heat extremes and strong spatial contrasts in precipitation regimes across climates that span Mediterranean winter rainfall systems and Sea of Oman monsoon influences, to the region’s extensive hyper arid deserts.
Collectively, this series of fact sheets provides an evidence based foundation for policy coordination, climate risk assessment and adaptation planning across the 22 Arab States. Country fact sheets are available for download in English and Arabic, and associated data files are available upon request to support policy research and analysis on climate change.
