The social and economic situation of Palestinian women and girls (July 2012-June 2014)

January 2015

The present report reviews the status of women and girls in Palestine over the period July 2012 - June 2014, outlining positive developments in and significant challenges for gender equality. The reporting period saw advances in efforts to align national legislation with international women’s rights standards, including those set out in Security Council resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security. It concludes with a set of recommendations for decision-makers aimed at promoting the realization of Palestinian women’s social, economic and political rights amid ongoing occupation and periodic violence. They encompass legislative and judicial reforms and programmes to advance women’s socioeconomic and political participation.
