Social Protection in the Syrian Arab Republic
This country profile outlines the statutory social protection system in the Syrian Arab Republic including social insurance, social assistance, and social health-care provision. It furthermore contains a discussion on social housing due to the centrality of this matter in the context of the ongoing conflict. The conclusion identifies policy gaps and structural challenges in the social protection system and maps out additional challenges arising from the impact of the conflict since 2011. The report proposes recommendations for the development of future social protection policies in the Syrian Arab Republic, geared towards a sustainable system and the inclusion of all Syrian citizens.
