Classification structure
Definition:
Refers to how the categories of a classification are arranged, grouped and sub-divided. The categories of a classification can be arranged in either a hierarchical or flat structure. In flat classifications the categories are arranged at a single level. Hierarchical classifications have several levels corresponding to different degrees of resolution (detail) in the measurement (specification) of the variable being observed.
