This consultative workshop brings together around 25 representatives from the National Committee for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security (UNSCR 1325), civil society, and key ministries to advance the implementation of UNSCR 1325. The workshop’s main objectives are to:
- Discuss and refine the situational analysis on Kuwaiti women within the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) framework prepared by ESCWA;
- Build national capacities for participatory and evidence-based National Action Plan (NAP) design, including SMART indicators, monitoring and evaluation frameworks, and budgeting components;
- Identify key national priorities and interventions under the four WPS pillars: participation, protection, prevention, relief and recovery.
This event follows the Ministry of Foreign Affairs assumption of the National Committee chairmanship in 2023 and a series of collaborative activities with ESCWA, including a training workshop was held in April 2024 and a comprehensive situational analysis—to support the commitment of Kuwait to advancing women’s roles in peacebuilding and decision-making.
