This sub-regional meeting brings together price experts from selected national statistical offices to assess the compilation, integration and methodological consistency of price statistics in their countries. It focuses on addressing operational and methodological disruptions that countries face in producing the Consumer Price Index.
The meeting also introduces the ESCWA regional initiative on the Harmonized Consumer Price Index, and provides countries with practical tools, templates and methodological guidance to support its implementation. It presents recent developments in subnational purchasing power parities, offering participants a deeper understanding of how these measures are constructed and how they contribute to regional comparability and analytical insights on price levels.
The meeting includes technical presentations, guided discussions and hands-on methodological exercises to enhance the capacity of national statistical offices to apply advanced practices in the compilation of price indices.
