ESCWA, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization are organizing a meeting aimed at achieving advanced transboundary water cooperation, promoting integrated management of water resources at all levels, and improving data sharing and monitoring.
The meeting includes presentations, panel discussions, plenary debates and interactive breakout sessions to discuss issues related to transboundary cooperation and enable the exchange of experiences between countries. It aims to advance the sustainable management of transboundary water resources and catalyse actions to accelerate SDG 6 achievement.
This meeting also aims to showcase the results of the 3rd reporting round of SDG Indicator 6.5.2. As part of the preparations for this round, ESCWA held on 30-31 May 2023 a workshop titled "Strengthening Legal and Institutional Arrangements for Transboundary Water Cooperation and Data and Information Exchange".
