ESCWA and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa are jointly organizing this side event that explores the role of science, technology and innovation (STI) in accelerating progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals in the Arab region. It aims to contribute to the global dialogue on leveraging emerging scientific and technological advances to support sustainable and inclusive development.
Aligning with the 2026 STI Forum theme of “Transformative, equitable and coordinated science, technology and innovation for the 2030 Agenda and a sustainable future for all,” the side event spotlights recent advancements in science and technology and their potential to address regional challenges. It serves as a platform for policymakers, researchers, and development partners to exchange knowledge on innovative STI solutions in areas such as water management, renewable energy, resilient infrastructure, smart cities, and regional cooperation, while also highlighting opportunities for partnership and collaborative initiatives to support the 2030 Agenda in the Arab region.
