ESCWA, the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security, the United Nations System Staff College, and the League of Arab States, and the Iraqi Ministry of Planning are hosting a workshop to implement the triple nexus approach, connecting humanitarian, development, and peace efforts within a risk-informed human security framework.
The event gathers over 30 Iraqi civil servants from various ministries to map the country’s risks, needs, capacities, and vulnerabilities through evidence-based consultations. Discussions consider the influence of regional and international actors on national initiatives, especially given external challenges or crises.
A key outcome of the workshop is the development of governance and coordination mechanisms that apply the nexus approach to the national processes of Iraq, supporting integrated programming aligned with the country’s development and resilience objectives.
