As part of a series of workshops to "modernize price data extraction with the Automatic Price Collection Tool", a national capacity-building workshop is being organized for the Central Statistical Organization of Iraq in Baghdad, with the aim of enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of price data collection through automation and improved statistical processes.
The training introduces participants to the core components of the Automatic Price Collection Tool (APCT), and provides hands-on training in basic Python programming skills. It also focuses on modern methodologies such as web scraping, and includes practical exercises using Selenium automation for real-time extraction of price information from local retail websites.
The workshop concludes with an evaluation of participants’ progress and technical outputs, confirming their readiness to implement the APCT as part of the national strategy of Iraq to improve the timeliness, accuracy and efficiency of price statistics.
