The workshop brings together experts and partners from the United Nations system, national statistical offices, development planning authorities and academia to lay the technical and institutional foundations for a joint recovery monitoring framework. Key outputs include core indicators, a roadmap, governance arrangements, and options for a public dashboard and periodic monitoring report.
Using Gaza as the initial case study, participants assess the long-term economic, social, environmental and human-capital impacts of conflict and occupation. They define methodologies, data sources, validation and quality-assurance arrangements, and institutional responsibilities for monitoring recovery and resilience in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
The framework combines administrative and survey data, satellite remote-sensing indicators, and information on financial and non-financial resources mobilized for recovery and reconstruction, including South-South cooperation. Designed for adaptation across the Arab region, the framework also strengthens South-South cooperation and institutional learning.
