ESCWA, the United Nations Population Fund - Arab States Regional Office, and the League of Arab States, in partnership with the International Planned Parenthood Federation - Arab World Region, are organizing a multi-stakeholders’ dialogue in the context of the sixth review of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) in the Arab region and the ten-year implementation review of the 2013 Cairo Declaration.
The dialogue aims to ensure an integrated and participatory approach to the review process by facilitating exchange of experiences of all relevant stakeholders, discussing challenges, assessing progress, and identifying gaps in the implementation of the 2013 Cairo Declaration. It also aims to reaffirm commitment to the Programme of Action of ICPD and the 2013 Cairo Declaration.
Participants include relevant regional and national stakeholders’ representatives from civil society organizations, including youth and women organizations, the private sector, media, research institutions, and academia.
Key messages will feed into the United Nations Secretary General’s report on the sixth review of the ICPD, which will be presented to the Commission on Population and Development in April 2024.
