ESCWA and UNICEF Office of Strategy and Evidence – Innocenti are jointly organizing this regional webinar to introduce the International Classification of Alternative Care of Children (ICare). Approved by the UN Statistical Commission as an official statistical standard in March 2026, ICare provides globally agreed concepts, definitions and principles to support the consistent collection and classification of data on children in alternative care.
The webinar highlights the importance of standardized, comparable and high-quality data in strengthening the measurement, monitoring and understanding of children in alternative care, while supporting evidence-based policymaking, resource allocation and progress monitoring across the region.
