From 23 April to 3 May, ESCWA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE) in Jordan, organized sectoral consultative workshops to provide technical support for the development of national generative AI (GenAI) guidelines. The workshops brought together representatives from public institutions involved in the development and application of GenAI solutions.
Discussions focused on identifying and evaluating GenAI use cases across key sectors, including government, security, healthcare, banking, private industry, and academia. Participants also examined sector-specific challenges and constraints, highlighting operational, regulatory, ethical, and technical considerations relevant to each sector.
The workshops further addressed the design and application of a risk classification framework for GenAI use cases, aligned with the proposed guideline dimensions of ethics, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance.
