As part of a regional workshop series aimed at strengthening the capacities of Arab meteorological services in sand and dust storm analysis, forecasting and modelling, ESCWA organized a regional training workshop in Cairo from 16 to 18 December.
Held in partnership with the World Meteorological Organization, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority, and the Barcelona Dust Regional Center, the workshop provided hands-on training with web-based platforms for dust monitoring and prediction. It updated participants on the use of regional climate models to assess sand and dust storm drivers and impacts.
The workshop also focused on tailoring early warning advisory systems to user needs.
