ESCWA continues to support Arab countries in advancing artificial intelligence and promoting its safe, effective and development-oriented use.
In Tunisia, and during the “AI Forward Summit 2026”, held in Hammamet from 7 to 10 September, ESCWA, in collaboration with the Arab Organization for Information and Communication Technologies (AICTO), organized a workshop on “Agentic AI and the Future of Sovereignty in the Arab Region”, where it presented the guidelines currently being developed on the safe and effective deployment of AI agents. ESCWA also participated in a panel discussion on “Digital Sovereignty: Sovereign Cloud, Federated Data and Strategic Digital Foundations”.
Also, in Djibouti, ESCWA participated in the AI Forum, organized on 2 and 3 September by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Innovation to launch the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, which ESCWA supported in developing. ESCWA presented the strategy and participated in a panel discussion focusing on its key pillars and priorities.
