To develop a national version of the Global Economywide Trade Simulator Interface (GETSI) tailored to Tunisia, ESCWA organized a workshop from 8 to 10 September, aimed at defining the specific features of the national version, including sectoral and geographical coverage, baseline scenario, and data requirements.
The workshop, held in Tunis, came in response to the outcomes of the Third Session of the Trade Policy Committee Meeting of Member States, and following an official request by the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion in Tunisia.
Customized versions of GETSI have previously been developed by ESCWA for several Arab countries, reflecting their specific economic structures and policy priorities. These tools have been successfully used by ministries to evaluate potential trade agreements during negotiations and to assess the effects of external economic shocks.
