On 25 September, ESCWA and the National Council for Scientific Research (CNRS) signed a partnership agreement to leverage renewable energy mapping, AI and geospatial tools, risk reduction systems, and capacity-building to support energy policy, resource management, climate adaptation, and regional cooperation.
The signing was made during a national consultation meeting held by ESCWA and CNRS at the UN House in Beirut, under the framework of their “Improved Mapping and Monitoring of Solar Energy Access for enhanced climate policy action and socioeconomic resilience” project.
The meeting brought together government officials, policymakers, UN organizations, and experts to discuss national technical capacities in the field of geographic information systems and statistics, as well as challenges and opportunities for integrating effective data-driven processes into solar energy policymaking.
