Building on its long-standing experience in competition law and policy, ESCWA, in partnership with the Competition Department under the UAE Ministry of Economy, organized a training workshop in Dubai from 10 to 12 November on Competition Law for judges and public prosecutors.
The workshop focused on the interpretation and application of the newly enacted Federal Decree-Law No. 36 of 2023, which reinforces the UAE competition framework. Across six sessions, participants explored the legal and economic foundations of competition law, examined practical case studies, and engaged with international best practices, including examples from the European Union, Saudi Arabia, and other jurisdictions.
The workshop aimed to promote fair market practices, enhance judicial reasoning through comparative perspectives, and reinforce consumer protection in a fast-evolving economic environment.
