The "SDG Stories" Project, Phase V 2025-2026

Major obstacles still hinder the achievement of several sustainable development goals (SDGs) in the Arab region, including eliminating inequality, eradicating multidimensional poverty and ensuring that no one is left behind. The best way to overcome these challenges lies in implementing innovative and unconventional solutions that are proposed, led, and carried out by all stakeholders in society — especially youth. To achieve this, it is essential to break down the barriers between young people on one side and policymakers and decision-makers on the other.
In light of this necessity, volume 5 of “ESCWA Stories” has been released, addressing issues such as combating violence against women and promoting social justice, and offering creative solutions to complex development challenges. It is worth noting that the stories are inspired by the themes of the Second World Summit for Social Development, which aims primarily to address the gaps in the path of social development and to inject new momentum into the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.
Volume 5 of the “ESCWA Stories” comic book will be launched during the Summit as part of ESCWA’s contribution to proposing shared sustainable solutions and breaking barriers between youth on one hand, and development actors — including governments, UN organizations, civil society, the private sector, and academia — on the other.
During the 2025–2026 academic year, the project will reach more than 36,000 learners across 86 schools in Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Egypt, Qatar, Iraq, the Sultanate of Oman, and the State of Palestine.
