The Ministry of Social Affairs in Lebanon, in cooperation with ESCWA and the World Health Organization (WHO), is developing the Lebanese Guide on Age-Friendly Cities and Communities, taking into account the country’s demographic, social, administrative and economic context.

The workshop engages heads of municipal unions and representatives of selected major municipalities in reviewing municipal realities and identifying challenges, opportunities, priorities and needs related to age-friendly cities and communities. It also gathers their views, feedback and recommendations to help ensure that the guide is practical, applicable, evidence-based and aligned with the Lebanese context.

Participants include heads and representatives of municipal unions and selected municipalities from different governorates, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Social Affairs, WHO and ESCWA. Their discussions and recommendations inform the initial version of the guide and support more inclusive communities that respond to the needs of older persons.
