As part of the series of activities planned in the context of the fifth regional review process of Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA), ESCWA and the United Nations Population Fund Regional Office for Arab States are organizing an online workshop dedicated to the preparation of national review reports. The workshop brings together national focal points on older persons and representatives of national statistical offices in member States.
Its goals are to review the quantitative section of the guiding template for national reports and strengthen the role of statistical offices in tracking MIPAA implementation. The workshop promotes better coordination and data sharing between producers and users of older persons' data, aiming to improve evidence for policy and strategy development.
The workshop emphasizes the central role of updated and disaggregated data in understanding the situation of older persons, and ensures that the review process is comprehensive, participatory and evidence-based, in line with Economic and Social Council resolution 2025/8.
